Louisville Local

LTMA is one of multiple trans and queer support spaces in KY. Here’s a list of other groups and organizations you can get connected with:

Black Trans Louisville is a peer-led organization based in Louisville, Kentucky that formed in November 2020 with the goal of fostering a safe, familial environment by and for Black trans people. A place to rest, connect with each other, empower one another, and access tangible resources to better daily life.

Louisville Youth Group is a community resource dedicated to providing LGBTQIA Youth ages 14 through 20 of the Louisville, Southern Indiana, and surrounding areas a Safe and Supportive environment. 

PFLAG Louisville holds monthly support meetings for parents, family, and friends of LGBTQ people

The University of Louisville LGBT Center is a resource for all students, faculty, staff, alumni and guests and aims to create a safe, inclusive community for everyone regardless of sexual orientation or gender identity/expression.

The Louisville Pride Foundation promotes Louisville as a community that celebrate diversity, fosters inclusion for all, and embraces the LGBTQIA community. The foundation is opening the first LGBTQIA Community Center in Louisville since the 80’s. 

Sweet Evening Breeze Youth Shelter was founded to address the overrepresentation of LGBTQ+ youth experiencing homelessness in Louisville. James Herndon, or “Sweets”, as her friends knew her, was beloved by many in the community, from her work at Good Samaritan Hospital, to her baking, to her boundary-pushing performances at clubs, and her womanless wedding fundraisers at local churches and in her own backyard.

KY State

The Fairness Campaign is Kentucky’s statewide LGBTQ advocacy organization. Its primary goal is comprehensive civil rights legislation prohibiting discrimination on the basis of sexual orientation and gender identity and to dismantle systemic racism.

ACLU of Kentucky works for our right to equal protection of the laws, regardless of race, gender, religion, national origin, sexual orientation, gender identity and expression, age, disability or other such classifications.

Trans Kentucky is a group based in Lexington also serving the eastern KY region.  Meets monthly for a speaker on a topic of interest followed by social time at a nearby restaurant. 

PFLAG Central Kentucky is a support group for parents, families, and friends of LGBTQ people. They hold meetings in Lexington and Frankfort, KY.

Western/South Central KY Trans* and Friends Support Group, based out of Bowling Green. Meets monthly and has an invite-only FB group you can join. We do not currently have a contact for this group.

U.S. National

National Center for Transgender Equality (NCTE) is a social justice organization dedicated to advancing the equality of transgender people through advocacy, collaboration and empowerment. 

Transgender Law Center works to change law, policy, and attitudes so that all people can live safely, authentically, and free from discrimination regardless of their gender identity or expression. 

Trans People of Color Coalition (TPOCC) is the only national social justice organization that promotes the interests of Trans People of Color. TPOCC is an organization to inspire and nurture collaboration among communities of color dedicated to anti-racism and fighting transphobia and the empowerment of transgender persons of color. 

Trans Student Educational Resources is a youth-led organization dedicated to transforming the educational environment for trans and gender nonconforming students through advocacy and empowerment.

Trans Lifeline is a national trans-led 501(c)(3) organization dedicated to improving the quality of trans lives by responding to the critical needs of our community with direct service, material support, advocacy, and education.
